A bit about CAC Registration portal

The Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has finally launched a 24-hour online registration platform to fast track its business services to its customers. With this online registration portal, you will be able to register your business and also have access to the services offered by the corporate affairs commission. Formally, registration of business name in corporate affairs commission in Nigeria is done offline; Nigerians have to incur extra costs and will travel to the CAC’s office to register their businesses but with the online CAC registration portal, registration of business can be done at the comfort of your home.

Things you need to know before your begin your online business registration on CAC Portal

Payment procedure: the registration portal accept many different online payment platforms such as inter-switch, e-transaction, visa card, and Verve card, American express and other forms of electronic payments including bank deposit for Nigerians.

Your choice business name; you have two business name options to type in for the business name search

Your business classification,

Your Company type,

Reason for availability search,

The main objective of the business.

Others things include: your date of birth, nationality, country of residence, residential address, identity type, identity number and identity issue state

How to register your Business online on CAC portal

PART 1
To register business online on CAC portal, visit CAC customer business registration portal site. Once you are on the site, click on create account button as shown below.

A webpage for creating an account would be displayed,

kindly fill in the short form to create an account on the CAC portal. Ensure you use a valid email address as your portal login details will be sent to the email address you provide. All fields marked in (*) are compulsory.

For your username, a minimum of 5 letters and/or alphanumeric characters is accepted

For the accredited agents: person(s) or institutions certified by the corporate affairs commission to process and submit pre-incorporation and post-incorporation filings on-behalf of individuals and businesses; if you are one or you have one then tick the box for accredited agent.

When you’ve carefully filled the form, submit it and you are done with account creation. Your CAC account login details will  be sent to your email box.

PART 2
1. After creating your Corporate Affairs Commission – Company Registration Portal Account (CAC-CRP Account), you can log out and login back at any time to continue your business registration or you can continue the registration by conducting a name search for your business.

To submit a name availability request successfully; you would need the following:
o The name(s) to search; a maximum of two options
o Your CAC-CRP account access (username and password, copy it from the email sent to your email box after you’ve completed your account creation)
o N500 only
o Other required information about the type of business. (The basic company information, business classification, company type, reason for availability search and the main objective of the business, PLEASE USE AN ACCREDITED AGENT IF IN DOUBT).

PLS NOTE: For your online payment, you can use your debit/credit card; you can still use your internet banking to pay for fees in the CAC-CRP. If you don’t have internet banking either; just generate the bill from the CAC-CRP; walk into any bank branch in Nigeria and make the payment.

2. Once your name search request has been processed; you would receive an email notification in your officially registered email address. Then on logging in to your CAC-CRP account; you would be able to see the status of your application as well as generate the availability approval/disapproval form.

3. If your name Availability request is declined, you can seek advice from an accredited agent; or make another name search application.
