Nothing has change. You can pay your school fees abroad while still in Nigeria. So, everything I’m going to discuss here will cover how to pay for tuition fees abroad from Nigeria.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has started allocation and sale of Foreign Exchange for purposes of payment of school fees and settlement of medical bills overseas. We shall see how CBN Form A is use for various international payments including School fees.
According to channelstv, the apex bank claimed that despite assurances it had given, some persons had continued to suggest that the Bank had stopped the allocation of Foreign Exchange to Nigerians seeking to pay school fees and medical bills overseas. The CBN also urged all genuine users desiring to obtain foreign exchange for payment of school fees and settlement of medical bills abroad to approach their banks with their requests and appropriate documentation.
Many Students seeking to pay for their tuition fees UK, China, USA, India, Austria, South Africa, Ghana, and so on from Nigeria have asked me here severally how to pay for school fees abroad as it very difficult sending money abroad now. The suggestions I make to them that work perfectly is what I want to share here with you too.
So if you are among those seeking to study abroad; whether for an undergraduate degree programme or postgraduate programme (PGD, MSc. Phd.). Here are some fast ways to pay school fees abroad from Nigeria!
Ways to Pay school fees abroad from Nigeria
There are several means to pay for tuition fee aboard from Nigeria. The current cheapest means to pay for school fees abroad is through:
A. Use of CBN Form A/e-Form A
HOW TO PAY SCHOOL FEES ABROAD USING CBN FORM A
- Visit the customers’ care of any of these Nigerian banks: Firstbank of Nigeria, Guaranty Trust Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Diamond bank, Zenith bank, and Fidelity bank; if you have an account with them that would be better. Take alongside the bank detail of the school that offer you the admission.
- Once you’re in the bank, tell the bank customer care you would like to pay for the school fees abroad with Form A. You will be directed to the appropriate desk where you will be given Form A to fill and sign. Please, make sure you fill the form correctly; ask questions where you are not clear.
- The bank will communicate to you after proper filling and documentation of Form A, the day the payment will be made.
- Scan the payment receipt and email it to your school in abroad, they will notify you when they received the payment.
If you don’t have account with any of the bank mention above; you may need to first, visit any CBN office close you to present your evidence of your school admission abroad. After authentication by CBN, you will be given an official exchange rate waiver.
After given a waiver; visit any of the bank mention above or if possible, visit GTbank with this official exchange rate document from CBN
- Tell you them you want to pay for your tuition fees abroad. Present the CBN paper to them.
- You will be given Form A to fill and sign. The procedure continues as in above.
- GTBank may take up to 2 months to make the payment.
- Stanbic IBTC may take maximum of 72 hours to make the tuition fee payment.
- Firstbank of Nigeria may take maximum of 48hours to make the payment.
The exchange rate for Form A is currently at N360/$. CBN does not allow any other hidden charge from the bank on your request. The maximum amount allowed for Foreign School Fees is USD15,000 or its equivalent per session.
Please note: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced the electronic Form A (e-Form A). So, starting from November 30, 2021, the e-Form A replace the hardcopy Form ‘A’ for transactions covering PTA/BTA, medicals, education, and other related remittances.
What is e-Form A
e-Form A is an electronic form of CBN hardcopy Form A
- Form A transactions is now being process electronically as e-Form A on the CBN Trade Monitoring System – tradesystem.gov.ng
- A valid Bank Verification Number (BVN) is required to access the Trade Monitoring System for e-Form A applications.
- The e-Form A is an online portal which means you can submit your request and upload your supporting documents from the comfort of your home or office.
- A ₦5,000 fee is payable for each e-Form A application.

My Advice on use of CBN Form A to pay for school fees abroad
- My candid advice here is this; don’t wait till when it is remaining 2 months, 1 month or weeks before you starting seeking for means to pay your school fees abroad. Start at least 3 months earlier.
- Any of these bank mention above may claim to make the tuition fees payment within 72hrs, 48hrs or even 24hrs, I rather suggest you visit them often to make sure they keep to their promise.

B. Use of Domiciliary Account
HOW TO PAY TUITION FEES ABROAD FROM NIGERIA USING DOMICILIARY ACCOUNT
Here, you have to open a domiciliary account or use a domiciliary account of someone you know to make the payment for the school fees.
Some Nigeria banks to open a domiciliary account with are GTbank, Firstbank, Diamond bank, and Zenith bank.
See : how to open a domiciliary account with Gtbank, Firstbank and Zenith bank
- Once, you open a domiciliary account let say with GTBank; the next step is to fund the domiciliary account with the require amount you wish to pay as school fees abroad.
- To fund the account, foreign exchange Company, like Travelex may offer better foreign exchange rate option than the black market (BDCs).
- Show GTbank staff the admission letter and they will give form to fill the university bank details and to also add your student name and student ID number.
- You need to have extra money on your domiciliary account for bank transfer charges. The bank charges include; telex transfer charge (optional but necessary), off shore charges
and £10 if the correspondence bank need to deduct.
C. Through Agents
How to pay school fees abroad from Nigeria through an Agent
There are many agents (both local and international agents) that claim to offer the service of helping students who are offered admission abroad to pay for their school fees. I wouldn’t want to start mentioning them here because I don’t trust any of them. However, it doesn’t mean that there are no good Agents that runs school fees payment for Nigerians that goes abroad to study. In Lagos, you’ll find many of them.
To conclude, I will suggest you go through the above options when paying for school fees abroad from Nigeria. Select the most convenient. They may still be other ways to pay for school fees abroad from Nigeria but the 3 options above are the fastest!
I applied for form A with Gtbank. I was debited but it was a negative debit because I had not paid the money into my account. I want to know there is a negative debit? I want to know if the money movement had been initiated?. If i should go ahead with transferring the money into my account to enable it to move?
Thank you for the write up. I plan to pay for the initial deposit few days time using form a, can I still pay part of the school fees using form a few weeks after using form a to pay for initial deposit?
Ask your bank!
Thank you for your response Emma.
Please, is it that there is no longer the option to go to the bank and pick up the Form A?
Do i have to fill in and print the online version? I hear there is a fee of N5000 attached for the e-Form A.
Yes!
Hi Emma. Good Evening. Thank you so much for this platform.
2 things please
1. I want to pay my deposit of 4K pounds to a UK School. Which Nigerian bank currently offers the best FX transfer service?
2. I have a dollar account, can i use a dollar card to pay the deposit which is in Pounds?
Please reply? Thank you!
1. I can’t vouch for any bank when it comes to FX transfer services. Only try will convince you.
2. To your second question, it is your bank that will tell if that will work.
I submitted my form A at GTbank on the 24th of March and got debited on the 30th but the money is still in my ledger balance it’s no longer in my main balance please I want to verify why i have not recieved my telex copy. Thanks
The money has been sent
Thanks so much much but I want to know why I have not recieved my telex copy and why the money is still in my ledger balance
That the money is still your ledger balance, does not mean that it has not leave your account. The money has leave your account. So relax, as soon as it leaves your ledger balance, you’ll get your telex copy.
Ok thank you.
One more thing please i would like to know how long it will take for the money to leave my account
Good day. It’s about the fee I told you about, currently the money has cleared from my ledger balance on Tuesday been 26th of April but the bank said i will get another debit for the telex itself please I want to know how long it will take to get the debit for the telex
banks (gtb, for instance) usually block the required funds in your acc so that there would be no tampering with the funds while the payment processing is going on, hence the reason it’s still appearing in your ledger balance. it is not until when the process has been completed before the money is moved finally out of your account. i hope this helps!!!
Thanks it helps!
Thanks for this information. I like to ask if GTB will still take 2 months to send the school fees abroad as you noted in the write up.
Please, can you specify where I said it takes GTBank 2 months to send school fees abroad
Good morning, please I will like to ask that can I use Stanbic IBTC bank to pay for my tuition fees. Because someone told me not to use the bank but rather, I should use UBA bank which I don’t have an account with them. Thanks
Ask your bank (Stanbic IBTC) how long it will take them to send the money. That’s all I can say.
Emma thanks for all the effort you make to answer questions regarding various payments. Please, I made a payment using Form A via Fidelity bank and I was told I will be debited within 2-3 working days but nothing yet. Please, I want to know how long it takes currently because I have barely a week deadline left for the payment to be made?
It takes 2-3 working days. Visit Fidelity bank and find out what is causing delay in the wire transfer.
Hello Emma. Please the bank says that there’s a CBN directive that’s restricting processing of payment of tuition for diploma programme. Please how do I resolve this?
Thank you
Answered!
Hello EMMA, I have read your responses so far about questions been asked and I must tell you you really did a good job answering those questions…..big thumbs to you. I would like to know, I want to make a payment deposit into a UK school account. Please which options do you think is best now considering CBN restrictions and policies.
Make the payment via transfer through domiciliary account, if you have one. But if you don’t have one then go through the hassle of CBN Form A.
Good afternoon Emma.
Please can you tell me another way to pay a deposit to schools in the UK? I went to 5 different banks today to make a deposit, but none have a reasonable price even though they call it CBN form A. Here is the information from the different banks:
Zenith Bank: 540.58 pounds excluding their service charge.
Diamond Bank: 577.83 Pounds.
FCMB Bank: 580 Pounds
First bank: 578.26 Pound.
Fidelity Bank: 601 pounds.
This information is at today being 28/4/2021. I am stressed out. please can you recommend the cheapest bank or other means. Thank you.
Another way to pay for your school fee in UK is to pay using domiciliary account. If you have one that fine but if you don’t, you can look for someone that has one to assist you.
Hello Emma. Please the bank says that there’s a CBN directive that’s restricting processing of payment of tuition for diploma programme. Please how do I resolve this?
Thank you
Contact your school and let them know the new development.
Hello Emma, I want to ask concerning requirement for formA now, Polaris demanded for the student BVN, is it all banks that requested for the BVN even if the student does not have an account in Nigeria before leaving
BVN is not part of the requirement.
Hi Emma,I want to pay for my school fees in the USA but on the form A it requires Iban and USA banks don’t use iban, what should I do?
Your school in USA should provide the account details, you’ll send the money to.
Hello emma..thanks for your response this far..
I filled a form for payment through zenith bank form A to uk for over a week now and am yet to be debited..except the cbn processing fee..pls do you know how long this will take?
Answered
Hello Emma , thanks for the good work on here ,
please i want to ask do i still need to go to the bank to get form A if i am sending from a personal dom account or a frined or cani just proceed with the payment ? i mean since i can pay with internet banking ?
thanks
You don’t need form A if you’re sending from a personal domiciliary account.
All the Bank rates are really different…I visited about 5 banks today all with different rate and sending terms…9ja is fucked up, imagine banks advising me to go and purchase Euros from the black market which is extremely expensive
Dear, that’s Nigeria for you.
Hi pls I used Polaris bank since Friday my mom acc was not debited and today is Tuesday
Polaris Bank money transfer service is poor. You should have make inquiry before using their service to pay for school fees abroad.
pls about the sch fees payment transaction you did at Polaris bank then hope the transaction went thru pls let me know cause am abt doing same process thru polaris bank
I went to my bank Polaris bank on Friday I got the form A and I submitted it up till now my acc has not been debited and today is Monday ..what’s wrong?
I went there this morning and they said it as being processed why didn’t they debit me?
Probably, they have a huge of volume of money to transfer. So, wait for them. Firstbank service should be faster than that of Polaris bank.
It is in queue. How fast they will transfer the money depends on the volume of the money they have to transfer and their services.
Hello please i Dont really understand this because my school in Canada said I should use Western Union, but I got to my bank and it was form a transaction I used.please how many days would it take before my school in Canada receives my payment.it is first Bank I used and the deadline is fast approaching
It depends on the bank and the money in the queue to be sent out. For Firstbank, it will take them like 2 – 5 working days but sometimes up to 2 weeks if they have less money in queue.
Hello Emma, I will like to send 4000 pounds to uk for my fee with form A. How long does it take in 2019
It depends on your bank. If your bank process it today, it will get your school within 2 – 5 working days
Hello Emma, I must commend you for making payment process easy and accurate directions too. However, I made a pre-enrollment deposit to a school in Canada through Form A in Zenith bank. A week after the payment is yet to be done.
Just relax, the payment will be made.
Bro, the payment was later made on 27th April. Uptill now the Canadian school is yet to receive it. What do I do?
Do I get someone in US or Canada to pay on my behalf.
Please I want to know what an invoice is, because I used form A to pay part of the fee, when I went the second time, to pay CBN rejected it saying they need an invoice attached, I have no idea…
Invoice is the order of the payment. An invoice should probably be raised when you pay part of the fee.
Say**
Good day, I would dis platform has been really helpful, I’m trying to pay my fees to a university in the Uk..they said they are partners with Western Union Business Solutions. Tried using it but first bank and zenith said they don’t do that kind of transaction..I had to call the school for their bank details which they sent to me, I filled my Form A already but my questions are: 1)Do I get the Telex copy immediately 2) Will they use the black market rate or the official rate? I followed your advice I’m paying 4months before deadline
Once the payment is made, get the telex copy. The payment might or might not be done immediately, it depends on the bank. Find out from the bank. They will use the official bank rate.
I’m using Zenith bank and the official CBN exchange rate for pounds is really high.. the bank said 490.. is this ryt
Thanks..
No oo.This is too much. It is not right.
I’m really sad right now, but the process has started already
please, how can I pay fees with my dollar Visa Gold card, issued by first bank. I have a domiciliary account with them. I am already in Russia. All the substantial amount for fees is in the card. I have online banking platform withe bank too. how do I go about payment as authority is no longer allowing me freedom.
Thanks
You need to find out the different payment methods from your school. This will help determine if your dollar Visa Gold card will work.
I’m afraid; I may not be able to ascertain that considerable other factors which may come into play.
pls, may I know how long it takes Zenith bank to effect my Tuition payment to be made on the 9th of october? Destination is New Zealand. Thank you
You’ve not made the payment, yet. If you get to your bank, ask them. It depends on your bank’s tuition payment queue.
Good evening Emma. Please how much is the Cbn exchange rate to pay school fees abroad. And is there any related charges. As well as how long does it take to process the transfer
hello Emma,
please can one pay for tuition to a UK university using a DOLLAR Domiciliary account?
Yes, of course!
Good afternoon, I would like to know the documents required for Form A. My bank is insisting I drop my university certificate before they do the transaction. I’m of the opinion this isn’t necessary. All that is need is the admission letter from the school and the invoice. Am I wrong?
You’re right. I don’t think other bank request that.
Hello Emma, very good work here really helpful and problem and solving, please I want to know the role of cbn in getting money back when you decide to cancel a transaction while paying with westerunion business solution for school fees to Australia. I wanted to pay the school fees for Sydney university but it didn’t go according to the bank and now I want to pay for flinders but they keep telling me that the money is with cbn and they are waiting for cbn to return it, please explain to me how cbn can hold the money and for how long. Thanks.
Hold the bank you made the payment through responsible not CBN.
Thank you Emma, so the money is not with cbn?
Hello Emma
Please.. can I withdraw pounds cash in UK with a dollar card of a *dollar* domicillary account I opened in Nigeria?
thanks…
You can only withdraw dollar with your dollar MasterCard unless your dollar account is link to your pounds account.
Thank you

EMMA good day sir,
is there any way I can track my FORM A status to check whether it has been treated or not
Hello Sulaimon Babatunde,
Your School should be able to send you an acknowledgement message confirming the reception of your school fees payment once it reflects.
If you don’t not receive message from them after 7-14 days, please contact your school to find out what happened.
But is like u said the money will be credited to the school account immediately they ve debited us

JULY 28, 2016 AT 2:54 PM
My bank had just sent me an alert for debits after months of submitting my form A. How long will it take to reflect in my University account? Will CBN send me an email or something?
REPLY
JULY 28, 2016 AT 4:36 PM
Hello Habila Haziel,
Your university account will be credited immediately once your bank has debited you. CBN will NOT send any email to you.
Okay, Thank you. Please note that; it might not be immediately. It depends on the activities of your University/school bank.
Emma pls I would like to know all the required documents to take along to the bank if am paying through CBN form A, and how long would it take First Bank to remit the payment
All you need to do is visit Firstbank if you operate account with them and then present your evidence of your admissions. Every other thing can be sorted out. In terms of how long it will take for Firstbank to remit the payment, I wouldn’t be able to say that because it depends on;
1. the number of school fees to be paid that are on queue.
2. if the bank has forex for the payment.
So, all you have to do is to find out from them.
hi Emma,..I wanna know if domiciliary acct charge at the exact exchange rate,if I wanna pay my fees in South Africa.
Why not pay through CBN form A. Do you have domiciliary account?

Hello all am about to pay my school fee to an University in USA through form A and want the payment to reach the school within a month, please I want know the bank with the fastest form A and more so what’s the exchange for form A if am paying $3,000
Hello SULAIMON BABATUNDE,
There are a lot of factors that determines how fast the bank will send school fee. Example 1. if there are already too many school fees on the queue. 2. if the bank does not have enough forex. Find out from the bank you wish to use how fast they will send the school fees and their exchange rate.
Please can someone tell me what Form A exchange rate in euro , I apply for form A using 1st bank for 1771 euro I deposit 750 thousand over 1 month now today the called me that I have to add 70 thousand now I calculate western union is for cheap and that’s impossible because Form A suppose to be cheap please I need to know the exchange rate for form A in euro
Hello Wilson midawa,
You have the right to ask them the exchange rate and the charges they are deducting. 750,000 naira should be enough no matter the exchange rate and the charges.
Pls can i use my diamond bank visa card and/or fidelity bank master card to withdraw from any atm in canada
That’s if the ATM is naira dominated.
Please, How long does it take zenith bank to transfer tuition fees to canada in canadian dollars. coz av paid since last week and they av nt sent it to my school.

Hi Emma, I filled the form A today to pay a UK university tuition fee but I’m surprised they calculated the amount in dollars, the bank said I can’t bid for pounds that they had to convert d amount in pounds to dollars which I filled in the form. Now I’m afraid the money may not get to the school in pounds. is that how it is done ?
Hello Zico,
Don’t worry, the bank will take care of that.
How long does it take a domiciliary transfer to hit the designated bank and how can one know when the school has received it.
Within 48 – 72hours. The school will send you either acknowledgment email of your school fees payment or notification.
Morning Emma, I spoke with the bank and they said they will be able to reach my deadline which is this Friday. Even though they said that I’m still concerned because at first they said it will be done in two weeks and now it’s d fourth week and yet nothing has been done and the deadline is around the corner. I don’t understand. Pls what do I do?
Firstbank @Emma
Hello Joseph,
CBN has release forex for that. I think you need to visit your bank in person and explain to them your predicament.

Thanks. Hopefully waiting as I have deadline of 31 March.

I will leave for Australia by weekend and I’m still in dilema as to how to pay my school fees. I got my visa last Monday. What do you suggest? Please this is urgent
Keff John,
You didn’t start early. Negotiate with your bank
Hi Emma
The problem is the policy against moving naira out of the country. Only dorm account is acceptable means of transfer which i do not have
@Keff John, does your school accept payment by cash? If yes, I’ld advice you to buy some bitcoins amounting to your school fees or half of it. When u get there, sell ur bitcoins for AUD. Go to the bank and make your payment
Dear Emma Onyeka,
Good day,
Kindly I would very appreciate if you can assist me in confirming the value of 14,000 Australian dollar which is amount for my tuition there.
Please bear in mind that I just want to know the estimational value and not specific or exact.

Good day, Thank God i found this site. I was surfing information on how to pay for my brother’s acceptance fee in canada CAD2000. Can i pay this through my dollar dorm account? Got rumour that you can’t send pass a specified amount/limit. Can dorm account do the transaction as at now?
Hello fejiro,
Yes, you can pay it through your brother’s dollar account. Maximum daily transfer via dom account is $10000
@Emma, Thank God i found this site. Welldone! Can I use GTB naira master card to pay for my Australian school fees or better still which banks Naira cards can work, I have barely 3 weeks to do this. Thinking of best options I have now. Kindly Advise.
Hello Michael Ayidu,
It all depends on your school. Some schools abroad accept payment via MasterCard card while others don’t. So, find out the school fees payment options from your school. Outside that, you can pay via domiciliary account, form A and other third parties.
Please……what about the payment for Admission forms…….
Unless the payment of admission form is included in your school fees.
Some when wl cbn allocate fx this year for form A
Hello, please can I pay my rent fee abroad with the form A with my Gtb Nigeria account? I’m a student and I have my admission letter with me, but I need to pay accommodation fee to my school housing agent.

Hi Emma, please any idea if the temporary suspension of the Form A by the CBN has been lifted yet?
Hello Osas,
There was no time CBN suspended form A in the recent time.
Emma , please can you tell me gtb and first bank rate if one wants to pay using a master card ( naira) .
Hello May,
Pay for what?
hi, i must say you are doing a very great job on your forum here, and i am sure a lot of Nigerians including me appreciate your selfless advice’s towards the payment of international fees , now to my dilemma , i recently applied to a school in Scotland for my post graduate studies and i was offered a conditional admission which will become permanent on the payment of 40% percent of the fees , i intend on paying about 5000 (pounds)using first banks form A before the 17th of December because the deadline for the payment is the 19th of December, now from the comments here and from what i have heard i am worried that the fees might not reflect before the deadline given ( dec 19) of which i am expected to process my visa application using the cas that would be sent if i intend on resuming by January 22 2017 . What i want to know is , would the fees reflect in about 3 days using first banks form a or i should just go ahead and use a domiciliary account funded by pounds from the black market ?. i look forward to your earnest reply . Thank you.
Hello Anthony,
Please, go ahead and use a domiciliary account funded by pounds from parallel market if you can afford that.
hi,I made a form A payment of 19,000(5000 x 3 & 4000)to my UK university on the 17th of September, till date the school is yet to receive payment.
Hello Austine,
Go to your bank and find out what happened.
Mr Onwuka,
i have the same issue with Austine. I have contacted my BANK severally but they keep telling me its not their fault but CBN is the one delaying the release of my tuition fee to my UK university.
So what is your advice
Hello Praz Harry,
Explain and plead with your School to exercise patience for you while you wait for your bank to transfer the payment.
Please how can I fund my dom account using travelex?
Aishat,
Reach out to Travelex.
Hi.
What if one wants to pay application fee of about £50 for a UK university? How exactly can one go about that?
Thanks.
Hello Muyiwa,
1. The institution you are paying to can provide their bank details and you pay through your domiciliary account if you have one.
2. You can also pay using MasterCard depending if the institution accepts MasterCard.
I can help muyiwa pay the money
On 23rd October, 2016 I received an e-mail from GT Bank telling that the international limit on my Naira Mastercard has been reviewed downwards to $100 /month (POS & Online) and ATM withdrawal is restricted abroad.
Today i tried to make an online transaction of $100 but the transaction was declined telling me that daily limit exceeded. I wonder what does it mean. Please do you know why it was declined?
Hello Bello,
I will advice you open a domiciliary (dollar) account and get a dollar MasterCard. There will be no limit to your transaction with the dollar MasterCard.
The same statement made by the bank but to open a domiciliary (dollar) account i need to travel home (Nigeria) or is there any other way to do it while abroad?
My school in uk accept MasterCard, I was told in bank that MasterCard can no longer pay tuition fees abroad. If I decided to use my MasterCard to pay my fees, if the payment declined, will the money get missing or it will return back to my account. Awaiting your reply urgently.
Hello eki,
If the payment get declined that means your payment is not accept. So, there is nothing like your money getting miss or returning back.
I applied for form A through First Bank since 24th September and I am yet to get a response from the bank. The bank called me a few days ago to say that the form was declined because there is no AUD available( I applied for payment of tuition in Australia), they asked it be converted to USD. The bank official used their converter and converted it to USD and relaunched the application. I have some concerns however, he converted 19013 AUD to USD and it ampunted to 11800 USD. All the other exchangers I used for the convertion were between 14000-15000 USD. My questions are.
1) I hope when the money gets to the school it wont be less than I was supposed to pay thereby putting me through the whole process of waiting again for my form A to pull through.
2) Does this form A usually take this long? from 24th September till now is over a month and I am running out of time.
3) What other reasonable alternative do I have and how do I go about it.?
Hello Somto,
1. It won’t be less than what you are suppose to pay.
2. Yes, form A takes that long. So, it is advice you start earlier.
3. Depending on the institution, you can via your credit, Visa or MasterCard. You can also pay through third parties like skrill, Payoneer etc.
Hello I saw many answers given by with relate to send school for those study abroad. My question is that, how much does dollar cost when it come pay school fees or medical issue durectly to abroad ?
Official bank exchange rate. Ask your bank.
Hello I’m trying to understand how people pay tuition fee when most banks cut their POS/internet limit on cards to $100-300 per month
Hi,i am applying for postgraduate program in some schools in US. I am supposed to pay for my application fees with a mastercard or visa. Banks have stopped foreign transacation with naira mastercard. Please how can i go about paying for my application fees?
Hello Susan,
Who says that Bank have stopped foreign transaction with naira mastercard? It is all depends on the institution.
Mr Emma Onwuka
Please, i want to be frank with you. Since October 10, 2016, i cannot make any transaction with naira mastercard in U.K uptill now. So what is responsible?
Praz
Hello Praz Harry,
Get dollar MasterCard!
Mr. Emma, Morning sir,
Kindly brief me if you have any knowleged of paying tution fee through Micostarmall. How long does it take Micostarmall to process a fee to an european university?
Also, in case of using GTB Dom account which was newly opened. if its funded, can one perform outflow transfer fund with it immediately its funded ?
Hello sir, please do you know how long it will take for my school fees to be paid by using the Form A at First Bank?
Also I can I use travelex to fund a domiciliary account?
Hello Prince,
Frankly speaking, FirstBank should be in most position tell how long it will take.
And please do you know anything about transfermate?
Hello Great,
I am not quick in talking about international money transfer operators (IMTOs) (whether online or offline) especially those that does not domicile or operate in Nigeria
Please how do I pay for my application fee?..I need to pay $100CAD to a canadian instituition.
Hello Great,
You have to pay dollar equivalent using your domiciliary account if you have one.
It is neither a business account nor a third party involved. I did it online successfully on the website. What do you mean by a third party because I don’t understand how the money was exchanged at that rate? What I think is all Nigeria master cards should be exchanged at the official rate no matter where it is being used. What do you think could have happened since you are still insisting it is exchanged at the official rate when used for online international transfers.
Hello Femi,
Hold on! I will get to find out what happened by next tomorrow.
Ok thank you. You haven’t given a reply to my comment about the master card payment. You can reply it to my email address since I’ve provided it. Thank you!
Hello Femi,
What is your comment, please. I have many comment to reply; so repeat your question if I haven’t answer you
The one you said you were going to reply to in the next two days about why the first bank master card which was used for paying application fee online on international level was exchanged at the black market rate and not at the official exchange rate. Thank you!
Are you sure it is at the official rate that bank master cards use for online international transfers because I used my first bank master card to pay for my application fee and I was charged at the rate of #460 per dollar which I think should be the black market rate and not at the official rate of #315 to a dollar as at today. Thank you!
Hello Femi,
The transaction you made seems to involve a third party or business account.
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate! Since you stated that Banks naira master card is at the official rate that means I can use my Skye Bank master card to pay for my tuition and I will be charged at the official rate and not at the black market rate. Another reason I will like to use it is because it is faster than using form A which takes month to deliver. Thank you once again.
Hello Femi,
You can only use your Skye bank master card to pay for your tuition if your institution accepts that.
If a person were to use form A to pay for the international tuition fees, is it at the official rate the person will be given to pay for the the tuition? If not, how will the person go about it to pay for the tuition using the Cbn rate?
If a person were to use the domiciliary method of payment, what foreign exchange company gives the Cbn official rate of dollar to naira or any other lesser rate so that a person can use it?
Do you know banks in Nigeria in which their naira master card foreign exchange rate in which their exchange rate is slightly different from the official rate because I know no bank will want to give the Cbn official rate and you know the dollar is not smiling against the dollar at the moment.
My last question is that is there limit of amount per day to pay for international fees using naira master card and what is the limit of amount if there is or do you know of any bank which their master card has no limit? Thanks in advance and thanks for the beautiful write-up.
Hello Femi,
1. You ask and I quote; “If a person were to use form A to pay for the international tuition fees, is it at the official rate the person will be given to pay for the the tuition?”
Answer; Yes! It is at the official exchange rate.
2. You ask and I quote; “If a person were to use the domiciliary method of payment, what foreign exchange company gives the Cbn official rate of dollar to naira or any other lesser rate so that a person can use it?”
Answer; No foreign exchange company gives at the CBN official exchange rate in Nigeria. You can only buy from parallel or black Market to deposit into dom account.
3. You ask and I quote; “Do you know banks in Nigeria in which their naira master card foreign exchange rate in which their exchange rate is slightly different from the official rate because I know no bank will want to give the Cbn official rate and you know the dollar is not smiling against the dollar at the moment.”
Answer; Every bank in Nigeria uses the official exchange.
4. You ask and I quote; “My last question is that is there limit of amount per day to pay for international fees using naira master card and what is the limit of amount if there is or do you know of any bank which their master card has no limit?”
Answer; I don’t know.
Pls sir firstly about the dom account . Like how many days can the transaction reach the school ?
Also about the third party can you help me with anyone I can meet here in Ogun state sagamu or Lagos state.
lastly whether dom account or the third party how much in naira can they collect for 250Canadian dollars for buying a form?
flash me with this number so I can call u to ask more. 08026576994
Thanks
Hello Ray,
With Dom account, it can get to the school within 2-5 days.
I don’t believe in third party.
Please, I will talk to you later.
Hello Emma,
Pls is the ban for form A lifted, and how long does it take to make payment using form A because I hv applied for almost a month now from Firstbank and there is no reponse yet.
There was no time, restriction was placed on form A.
First bank sent me details of form A. Applied on 7/09 and it was sent on 21/10. 6 weeks and 1 day using form A to pay fees.
Hello Keias,
Thank God, they even did it at six weeks.
what rate did first bank use for FORM A
Hello Dayo,
It should be official bank rate.
Hello Emma, your platform is so informative and I love it. Please I want to know what rate is used when you pay your school fees with naira master card, how high are the charges from the bank?
Hello Emmanuel Edise-emi,
You will be charge at the official bank rate. Remember, this exchange rate changes every 4 minutes. The charges varies depending on your institution location.
@Emma, I think the only acceptable means of payment is through bank wire. Best thing is to get the Domicilliary account funded. Brother, how about Payza, do you know things about it?
Hello Blessing,
Payza is an online payment platform.
Hello Emma,
In fact the issue of Form A, I don’t think it’s effective any longer. Having tried both First bank and Stanbic IBTC, me man still expecting. Please if to use travelex in order to get my Dom act funded cos that’s seems to be the last resort now. How do I go about it, means of transaction, becos on there site, these are not clear. Or any mean that you suggest to the euro paid.
Hello Blessing,
I doubt if travelex still use the official exchange rate. I suggest you find out from your institution, all their acceptable means of payment.
I am also looking for a way to pay tuition to Australian school. They accept card payment online. Is there any restrictions as to the amount one can pay using a Naira funded cards? Also which card is better visa or MasterCard? The school accepts both. Finally, which bank charges at the official rate. I called Fcmb customer care and the exchange rate for card payment is even higher than black market price N440/$ as of yesterday which is 14/09/16.
I’m thinking of using eco bank or sky bank.
Hello Uche,
Yes, there is a limit that you can transfer online using your Naira MasterCard. The limit will probably vary ( as in when transferring from personal account to a corporate account, personal account to personal account, corporate account to personal account). You can find that out from your Bank.
Use your MasterCard for this transaction. If you have GTBank account, use it.
First bank finally sent me details that my Form A has cleared and the amount debited. However, this was on the 7th of September and the school has not confirmed they received the amount yet. Moreover I was asked to fill a Form M as well, and also a form to authorise the crediting of any charges/problems from the transaction.
What do you think?
Hello Kay,
Wow! Why do they ask you to fill Form M? Is there any other transaction you intended doing apart from paying for your school fees?
No I am not doing any other transaction. How long will this Form A transaction take? They have deducted the money from my account and are debiting extra charges.
Pls Kay when did you apply for school fees payment using form A with Firstbank? Because I have applied and my aplication is still pending.
talk about naira master card coz am going to china for study so am asking which bank is good to use their master card and
please explain how do i do it in china just like guide me please
How can i pay small amount to Canada School for application fees of 100$ CAD? I have Ecobank MasterCard, can it work?
Hello ETUK,
It depends on the Canadian School. Some of the Schools in Canada accept Naira MasterCard while others don’t. So, find out from the Canadian School. The best and fastest means would have been wire transfer via domiciliary account if you have one. Another means would have been through Form A but, Oosh! you have to queue up until it reaches your turn.
I was told by a first bank official that domiciliary is not avaible for canadian dollar
Hello Great,
Yes, domiciliary account are only available in USD, Pounds and Euros.
which bank is the best to use their master card in china
Hello Sadiq,
Which type of MasterCard are you talking about-Dollar MasterCard, Naira MasterCard etc. Anyway,, whichever one; GTBank MasterCard remain the best for me.
yes naira master card i going to study in china so i want to knw and if i can withdraw with naira master card in china please just guide me explain how i will do it
Alright
If she opens a domiciliary account, will the bank use the official exchange rate or the black market exchange?
Thank you for that very informative article.
But I need to ask. In my own case, since I am resuming for my first year, students are not allowed wire transfer, just cash only until second year and I have to pay in dollars, but my parents are in Nigeria and have naira.
So I was wondering since the money is for my tuition fees and I already have an account here where I live in Hungary, can my parents put down my own account details in the form A that they have to fill or must it be a school account.
Thank you
Hello Mini,
Your parents can NOT put down your own account details in Form A, it must be a school account. The school account is a corporate account not a personal account. Since you have personal account over there, let your parents open a domiciliary account here in Nigeria and then send wire transfer to you.
Sorry that was duplicate but man, according to Zenith bank, Fidelity bank and Keystone bank officials, I was told that international transaction is restricted on naira Mastercard, so how will that work?
Thanks brother.
Hello Ifeany,
In this recent time, GTBank Naira MasterCard has been used to pay school fees abroad. What those bank officials say does not matter. What matters is, does your institution accept Naira MasterCard? If yes then check the naira MasterCard that they accept. It is possible that they can accept GTBank and Diamond Naira MasterCard and reject Zenith bank, Fidelity bank and Keystone bank.
Some institutions abroad even accept third party payment like Skrill Payment, BTC etc
Man you got good information here. I love that. My institution accepts Mastercard but I heard that there is suspension on naira Mastercard, can the school be able to source tuition fees from naira Mastercard? Is Australian dollars available in CBN as the use of form A depends on the availability of the host countries?
I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
Hello Ifeanyi,
Answered!
Emma, am so happy to have come across your article, it’s really helpful. I have 2 questions and please I need ya advice. 1) My school accept Mastercard and I want to supply my card details to the school so they can source the fees from it but it I was told that naira Mastercard won’t work oversae due to the ban on it by CBN. Can the school be able to source the tuition fees from my naira Mastercard? 2) With the use of Form A, is Australian dollars available in CBN? Bank officials told me that it depends on the availability of the currency. Please I need ya advice ASAP. Thanks and remain blessed.
Hello Ifeany,
1. “Can the school be able to source the tuition fees from my naira Mastercard?” The answer is YES! They can.
2. The issue is NOT Australian dollar being available in CBN; the truth of the matter is that Form A is not working (as it supposed). The window is always close.
Please can you confirm if the temporary suspension of the Form A has been lifted now? What is most viable to pay school fees for a foreign school from Nigeria ? What is the current status of the CBN policy on repatriation of funds to say a foreign school from Nigeria
Hello Deniel,
The ban has not been lifted though banks can accept your form A when filled pending when the window is open. Those who have filled form A for school fees payment since 2 months ago, their payment are still pending. There are many viable means to pay school abroad but it all depends on your institution.
Some institutions accepts MasterCard or VISA card.
Some institutions also accept third party payment like Skrill money payment
But the most sure ways I know all institutions accept school fees payment via international wire transfer through domiciliary account and form A.
The status of CBN policy on repatriation of funds to say a foreign school from Nigeria has NOT change.
This is so informative, Am a bit at rest. Intend paying my UK tuition fee today Through Diamond bank Domiciliary Account. Also gather more information about paying tuition fee abroad. My school Accepts Master and Visa card. Hope to know the transfer limit and which has lesser charges.
Good work man.
Hello Demmy,
The transfer limit via domiciliary account is $10,000 per day. The charges are;
for outflow = 5% commission and inflow = 0.5% commission. But, you can pay with your Master card since your school accepts it.
Please I need to know the exchange rate with which we pay. CBN rate or black market pls.. ?
Hello yinka joe,
Through what means do you intend to use in paying? This will determine the exchange rate.
Please can you confirm if the temporary suspension of the Form A has been lifted now? What is most viable to pay school fees for a foreign school from Nigeria ? What is the current status of the CBN policy on repatriation of funds to say a foreign school from Nigeria
Hello John Mosugu,
I will confirm it and update you here.
Hello
Please I’d like to know the exchange for naira to pounds when using travelex to fund my domiciliary account and also how long it takes for the account to be funded.
Hello Ejie,
Find the related article page and post this if you want it to be answered;
1. How to open a domiciliary account in Nigeria.
2. Naira to dollar exchange rate.
Emma,
Please how do I exchange my naira to dollars from travelex in my dorm account so as to pay my school fees from Nigeria?
Also, what is there rate of exchange parallel rate or official rate?
Hello Wizdave,
I don’t understand your first question. Please, re frame it.
As of yesterday, naira crash to N390/$ at black market while the official rate is N318.5/$. We waiting to see changes today.
I Submitted my Form A for payment in Firstbank since first week of JULY but till now nothing has been done and I ssuppose to start school by September , don’t know what else to do
Hello Chika,
I will rather suggest you visit Firstbank to know what is going on. If the temporary suspension of form A is not lifted, it is likely that the payment will not be made unless Firstbank gave you guaranty that the payment will be made.
Is eastern Mediterranean university online tuition payment reliable pls?
Hello Elizabeth,
Do your research very well. I don’t know much about their online payment method.
Want to inquiry if ECO bank is reliable in the transfer of tuition fees cos I bank with them.
Hello Nathaniel,
I have seen people who use GTBank, Fidelity bank, and Firstbank (relatively slow) to pay their school fees abroad. I have NOT seen for that of ECO BANK.
My bank had just sent me an alert for debits after months of submitting my form A. How long will it take to reflect in my University account? Will CBN send me an email or something?
Hello Habila Haziel,
Your university account will be credited immediately once your bank has debited you. CBN will NOT send any email to you.
But there’s aplace you specified days it takes banks to get the money to school, even when one hv been debited
Hello Asalu uche,
There is no place I specify days it will take banks to get the money to school. What I said is that you have to start earlier; at least 3 months earlier before resumption after-all banks school fees payment duration varies.
Thank u very much, I guess using d master card will b faster in processing than the form A. Cuz am suppose to resume by August 30
Yea, It will be.
Hello Kris, were you able to use your naira mastercard to pay your tuition fees?
What about paying via credit card like visa or master card. Bcuz in d payment form i receive for Thompson Rivers University in Canada, they sent a form that I can fill and input either a visa card, master card or an American express card no: in d form it also contain d amount am paying. Am ask to fill n returned d form to their email……….My question now is, is dis medium reliable n free from cyber theft. Also will it b done using my naira account?
Hello Kris,
You can use your MasterCard to pay for the school fees since the University specifies that.
Once, you are sure that you are dealing with the University directly then you are 100% safe. They can not just deduct your money without your bank notifying you via SMS alert.
Your Naira MasterCard will possible work.
Hello ,i also applied in thompson rivers and i have been having difficulties in paying.pls can we tok beta my wotsapp no is 07064702364.tnx will be expecting u to chat me up.
Can som1 pay a fee using MasterCard or either bank transfer. And which is easier, faster and reliable
Hello Kris,
You can pay your school fees using bank transfer but that has to be via domiciliary account transfer.
I just paid my wife 4500 Euro school fees here but I still need to move 1.2m naira to my account here, it’s so sad what’s happening to our country because…… I sent 5k Euro home to get that one million and now it can only trade at 3000 euro, now i need to add up 5k Euro for block payment , that’s how i came across ya site and it’s very informative ….. Thanks brother
Thanks, Asamoney.I’m glad you found this site very helpful. All the best for your family!!!
To me i think first bank is the best with the form a process they are fast and reliable unlike othee banks……I made school fees payment through zenith bank using form a since on may 18 I scanned and sent the telex they gave me to the school but I got a mail from the school yes2day stating dat they have not received my payment resulting to dem advicing me to defer my admission to Jan when I already got a visa for sept.
Hello John,
As for me, all these banks are the same. I will always suggest that prospective students start earlier.
Hi John, Hw did d embassy gave u a visa? Did d school sent u an acceptance letter after receiving the telex of ur payment, even wen d money has not entered their account???
Pls I want to knw
I went to different banks today and they confirmed there is a suspension for FORM A payment since last week ,apart from a Dom. Account ,can I arrange with the school to use western union and the currency is Euros . about 3200euros
Hello Roy,
You’re right! Sorry for the inconveniences. The information has been confirmed.
In terms of Using Western Union
You can NOT use Western Union money transfer to pay for school fees.
1. the amount (about 3200 euros) has exceed the western union maximum transfer limit.
2. the western union money are received by individual in person or individual account not on companies’ or corporate’s account
Hey,
Please, do you have any idea regarding the status of form A? Are there any suspension or delay in its processing time? My dad informed me of filling the form A form, since last month for my tuition fee. However, my school has yet to receive the funds. He was informed by first bank today that they haven’t gotten a response from CBN. I am hoping you can share light on my situation or perhaps, offer me any viable suggestions for paying my school fees without much hassle.
I hope to hear from you.
Thanks.
Hello Sophie,
the Form A is still temporary not available. There are many ways you can pay your tuition fees abroad depending on the University.
1. Some school payment system can accept MasterCard.
2. Generally, bank Wire transfer via domiciliary account is the best. However, not everybody has domiciliary account.
3. We have third parties who are into that but I don’t talk third parties here unless those I am sure are sincere.
Thanks for the information, but I was to know. How is the exchange rate when you pay with your masters card?
Hey ,please is FORM A still functioning with these policies ?
Hello Roy,
Form A is still working but in line with the new exchange rate policy.
Please what’s the form A exchange rate now !!
This issue is quite sad oooo i know of a family who their child had to return back to Nigeria because of this. Well like you said i think starting early enough is just the only way forward
Hello Sarah,
Thats quite sad, indeed.
Thanks for your contribution!
