How to verify PayPal account Using GTBank’s Naira MasterCard
Verifying your PayPal account will allow you spend your money as much as you want but without verification you will be restricted to a limit transaction of $250.
1. After clicking on the “agree and create account button, a new page for filling in your bank credit card details would be displayed. I used GT Bank’s Naira MasterCard to verify my own PayPal account.
2. Navigate to your dashboard if you are not redirected automatically. On the right hand side of your dashboard, Click on “Link and confirm credit or debit card” or “Get Verified” button in your account’s dashboard, carefully input your GTBank Mastercard details here again, click on “Continue”.
3. PayPal will deduct $1.95 from your GTbank account but they will refund you back the money within 24hrs because opening PayPal account in Nigeria is free. Your bank will immediately send you an SMS or email with a code which you will use in completing the remaining verification process.
The SMS should read something like this; Acct: ******3425
The Naira equivalent of USD1.95 has been authorized for the transaction done on PP*0123CODE 0342556789FF
Now, copy the 4 digits before CODE (highlighted in red) from your SMS or mail. You needed this for confirmation of your card.
4. On the right sidebar of your PayPal account dashboard as shown above and click on “Confirm Card” link if you have click on it before. Then type in the four-digit numbers you copied from your bank SMS alert and click on “Confirm Card”.
5. Finally, you will get a popup window, congratulating you if everything was successful and is working fine.
Please note this: you can verify your PayPal account using any Nigeria Mastercard or VISA card. I just used my GTbank account Mastercard.
You can use your Firstbank or any other nigeria bank mastercard or VISA card.It is very easy and simple and it all follows the same procedure;

Hello Emma, your work is exiting! I really appreciate the way you responded to various needs above. I have my own questions, and after all my online searches, I finally realized this is the place I have been looking for.
Using my GT Bank account, can I deposit and withdraw money into my PAYEER e-currency account?
If yes. How would that be possible?
If no. What other mode of depositing/withdrawal acceptable by PAYEER would you advise me to use?
Thank You. I hope to read from you soon.
Hello Samaila,
As it seems now, I doubt if that option is available for Nigerians. Maybe I have to contact Payeer for further appropriate answer. A Payeer e-wallet account can be funded and withdraw in Nigeria via e-currency exchangers . By the way, why using Payeer when there are many other better options?

Commenting From WizyTechs.Com
Emma you are doing a good work here. please which medium out of the 4 you treated on your write up is advisable for me to use? I want to send money into an organization account abroad! is Domiciliary account best? now am asking based on less service charges one will incur. because your post said in every $2000 one will pay 16,800 using western union, do u know how much a Dom Account charges for $3500 services charges? please I also want to know if I open Dom Account and found it will it start working immediately or it will still take couple of days to work? thanks
Hello Kenny,
The medium you will use depends on the amount you want to send.
I said in every $1000 or N190,000 NOT $2000, Western union charges N16,800
For Domiciliary account:The maximum transfer via DOM Account is $10,000/day.
Transfer charge or fees via DOM account (outflow) is based on commission and it goes this way =
2% commission on every transfer, 5% of 2% commission for VAT, N4000 for Teles (optional but necessary). You can do the calculation for $3500 transfer yourself.
If you open Domiciliary account, it may take up to 2weeks before it starts working.
Hi Mr Emmanuel. thank you very much for this. Hence PayPal can not permit withdrawal in Nigeria which other free account or accounts do you suggest we link to our website (majorly, church website) that is almost as simple to use as PayPal… I have been using PayPal to send money only for over 7 years now but can receive urgent please
Hello Engr. Jesse,
Do you intend receiving donations or payments through your website? In other for me to give you a better suggestion, I do know why you want to link a free online payment platform on your website. Please, give details and be specific.
Hello Emma, thanks for this great thread, you have really been helpful.
I have some questions first, do I need to deposit money into my paypal account when I want to make payment online or do I pay directly from my MasterCard when using PayPal?
Also do PayPal offer purchase protection, to people who transact with merchants online?
Thirdly is the exchange rate used by PayPal usually higher or lower than what is offered in the banks?
Expecting your response , thank you.
Hello Safaya,
Whether you deposit money into your PayPal account or not, once your PayPal account is verified; you can easily sought it out when you want to make online payment.
All transactions made via PayPal are protected.
PayPal is a third party party, any transaction you make incur its own specific charge.
Hello Emma, I came across your comments while researching about fund my neteller account. I have been having issues trying to fund my account with my Union bank MasterCard. Do you have any suggestions?
Hello Collington,
You need visa verification. Visa verification is also called vbv (verified by visa) where you get an “ipin” which is used for validating/completing any online transaction.
If you have never been able to fund that account since you open it, you may need to get visa verification, go to any Union Bank ATM close to you , follow the steps you would normally use in changing you ATM pin but this time select change “iPin” after you have must have done that, you are good to go.
Also, you have to make sure you have adequate balance as in more than enough to cover the transaction. I’ve noticed this when using diamond visa on neteller.
hello Emma, I did not visit Nigeria paypal before registeration does it mean i would not be able to use My paypal account.
Hello Abdul,
how do you register?
I was able to send $500.00 to a relative’s business account shortly after I verified my PayPal account. The next day I was able to send $1000.00. When I tried to send more money the next day, I received an error message instructing me to call customer support. Is there a daily limit that GT bank will allow for PayPal transactions or what do you think the problem could be? Also is it possible to purchase a US money order with my GT mastercard?
Hello Godwin,
There is a daily limit that GTbank will allow for PayPal transactions but that may not be reason why you are getting that error message. You can not purchase a US money order with GTbank mastercard.
Please my own problem is can we receive money from online to Nigerian paypal account. If yes please tell me how . Or we can only send money
Hello Ibrahim,
As of now, you can not receive money from online into Nigeria PayPal account. You can only send money through your Nigerian PayPal account.
I have both Domiciliary, Current and Savings Accounts with GTBank. Among these, I have only a Naira Debit card attached (or linked) with my Savings account. Therefore, in opening or verifying Pay pal account here in Nigeria, which of these accounts will I use? I mean, can I use my Domiciliary account or any of the accounts which I maintain with GTBank bearing in mind that I do not have a Dollar Debit card linked with my Domiciliary account.
Thank you.
Hello Festus,
you can only use saving account in the verification process since you have your naira debit card link to it.
Hello Emma, I found your blog page while doing a research on paypal and its interesting to find such expository epistle that you’ve made here and I am compelled to ask this question. Can one actually cashout funds/payments from their paypal account, verified or unverified with limits? Why I asked this question is because i know that when you visit paypal Nigeria page, and create an account, you’ll notice that the withdraw tab is not available meaning that you can’t withdraw funds in Nigeria. I use payza in place of paypal but as you know, paypal is the most recognized online wallet and payment processor globally and also, most clients and customers prefer to use paypal. I operate GTB and Diamond bank accounts so if it is possible, tell me which of these two banks that I should walk into and get the paypal service activated. Thank you in anticipation of your response.
Hello Chukwuma,
As of today, you can only use PayPal to;
1. make payment online with bank account, mastercard or credit card.
2. shop online with millions of merchants.
3. send money to friend, relative or family member.
4. Donate to your favorite charity organization.
5. Use your credit card and earn rewards.
You can not receive/withdraw money with you Paypal account in Nigeria.
I opened diamond online internet banking and I was asked to set a pin on the app online. I want ask if this pin is not same as ipin.?
Hello Abdul,
If you try using the PIN you were ask to set on the diamond app online and it is not working, go through Diamond bank ATM and generate ipin
please I anticipate your reply because it is really urgent.
Hello Abdul,
I have responded to your question. Check your comment before this.
I tried funding my neteller account with my diamond visa debit card but transaction was declined do I need a fyn MasterCard or a better card from a good bank to run transaction.
Hello Abdul,
You need visa verification. Visa verification is also called vbv (verified by visa) where you get an “ipin” which is used for validating/completing any online transaction.
Since this is your first time,
To get visa verification, go to any Diamond Bank ATM close to you , follow the steps you would normally use in changing you ATM pin but this time select change “iPin” after you have must have done that, you are good to go.
Also, you have to make sure you have adequate balance as in more than enough to cover transaction, i’ve noticed this when using diamond visa on neteller.
Emma thanks for your responses and intellectual support. I really love this site.
I use diamond bank debit visa card and zenith bank debit visa card. can I still use it to fund my account?or I need only fyn master card.
Hello Abdul,
You can fund your neteller account with naira master card or visa card from nigerian banks and also withdraw your money to your bank account in nigeria via wire transfer
okay, I have already registered and received my I.d. but how do I transfer money to my neteller account.
NETELLER offers many instant and local options for funding your NETELLER account, including free debit card deposits, local bank deposits, credit cards and international bank transfers. There are also many other local options depending on where you live.
Abdul, After you have registered and received your ID; to fund your account, you have to first verify your NETELLER Account with your bank account in order to make InstaCash Deposits. You can use your GTBank master card and get verification code on your phone.
To verify your neteller account read; verification of Neteller account.
Once your account is verified, proceed to fund it as follows;
1. Log in to your account.
2. Go to the ‘Cashier’ and click on ‘Deposit’.
3. In the NETELLER payment option, click on “Deposit now”.
4. Enter the amount you wish transfer and your bonus code (if you have one).
5. Enter your NETELLER ‘Account ID’ and ‘Secure ID’ that were sent to you in the registration email you received from NETELLER.
6. Enter the last 4 digits of the bank account that you registered with NETELLER. Click ‘Submit’.
Once you have received confirmation that your transfer was successful, your funds will be instantly available in your account.
You said I can only use it once as an unregistered member. so, after then I can’t use it again?
Hello Abdul,
you can use it again if you register or create account.
hello Emma I want open a Neteller account in Nigeria. but I don’t know how reliable it is and how it works because I intend on sending money to Macedonia and the reciepent oh has a Neteller account thank you. I anticipate your reply.
Hello Abdul,
Neteller started accepting Nigerians in 2014, so the online payment system is not popular yet. To use the system, they will expect you to create and register as a member if you intend using the system is sending and receiving money. You can only use it once as unregistered member after which you will not be permitted to use it again.
Since, your receiver has Neteller account, it will work perfectly if you open Neteller account in Nigeria and use it in sending money to him/her.
Neteller, Transfast, Perfect money, Payza, and so many others are now on my next list of universal/global online payment processor review.
Hi please can you tell me if the rate used to send money abroad is the bank rate or black market rate.thanks
